Regulations of the Antares Film Festival

The 1st International Festival of Feature-length feature Films, Documentaries, short feature films and Animated Films "Antares" is held from June 25 to June 30, 2024 in the resort city of Sochi, Russia.

GENERAL PROVISIONS

In order to develop cultural exchange, mutual understanding between peoples and cooperation between cinematographers around the world, and popularize the Man of Work, the 1st Antares International Film Festival is being held in Sochi from June 25 to 30, 2024.

The festival is organized by the Safety and Quality Association with the support of industry associations of employers of the Russian Federation and is held annually.

THE FESTIVAL PROGRAM

INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION:

· full-length feature films (duration to 120 minutes)

· short feature films (up to 30 minutes in length)

· documentaries (duration to 40 minutes),

· animated films (duration to 20 minutes)

NON-COMPETITION PROGRAMS:

· non-competition screening

· retrospective screening

· screening of pilots of Russian TV series

All films in the competitive program must be completed after January 1, 2022. The production date is determined by the copyright specified in the movie or video copy. Russian subtitles are required for all films with dialogues, if the original language of the film is not Russian. And if the original language of the film is Russian, English subtitles are required.

THE JURY OF THE FILM FESTIVAL

The films selected for each of the nominations are evaluated by a jury consisting of film critics, leading Russian and foreign cinematographers (directors, producers, cameramen, screenwriters, etc.) – in the number of at least three (3) people in each competition.

The jury of all competitive programs changes annually. The jury may not include persons involved in the creation or commercial distribution of paintings submitted to the competition. All members of the jury undertake to refrain from making public statements about the competitive films (namely, mentions and direct links of the winning films, publication in open sources of instructions and/or reviews of the winning films or other links containing instructions from the laureates of the competition) before the official award ceremony and announcement of the winners.

The bronze statuette "Antares" is awarded:

· Best director of a short film

· Best cinematography

· Best short film dedicated to the theme of the Man of Work.

· Best actor in a short film

· Best actress in a short film

· Best song/soundtrack in a short film

· Audience Award in the short meter competition

In the documentary film competition

· Best documentary screenplay

· Best director of a documentary

· Best cinematography

· Best song/soundtrack in a documentary

· Best documentary film dedicated to the topic of the Man of Work.

In the animated film competition

· Best animated film script

· Best director of an animated film

· Best animation artist of an animated film

· Best song/soundtrack in an animated film

· Best voice actor/actress

· Best animated film dedicated to the theme of the Man of Labor.

APPLICATIONS FOR PARTICIPATION AND SELECTION

The application dates are from February 1, 2024 to May 10, 2024 (for films produced in 2024, it is possible to submit a draft installation for selection).

There is no fee for submitting an application to participate in the film festival.

YOU CAN SUBMIT FILMS FOR SELECTION

· through the following online platforms: FilmFreeway or Festhome

The list of films selected for the competitive program will be published on our website no later than 2 (two) weeks before the start of the festival.

The producers and authors of the selected works will be notified in advance by e-mail. The festival does not pay licensing fees for the screening of films selected for the competition.

The decision of the selection committee is final, not commented on or discussed.

PROMOTION

The participants of the film festival agree to provide elements of the film (including, but not limited to: stills, photos from the set, texts related to the film, trailers, teasers, cuts) for use by journalists accredited at the Antares Film Festival, on TV (broadcast, cable, satellite), online media, in print media.

In addition, the elements of the film can be used by the Directorate of the Film Festival in any official printed materials, online publications and other situations.

DELIVERY, INSURANCE AND RETURN OF COPIES FOR DISPLAY

Copies of the films selected for screening must be provided to the organizing committee of the festival by May 10, 2024 by transmission via the Internet. Only digital media are accepted for screening. If a copy is not received within the prescribed period, the Festival has the right to exclude the film from the competitive program.

The formats of the copies to be shown are: DCP (preferably), HD files (Apple ProRes) or MP4. Detailed technical requirements will be sent to all selected participants on a personal basis. Russian subtitles must be sewn into the copy to be shown, if the film is not in Russian.

INVITATION TO THE FESTIVAL

The directors of the films included in the program will be invited to the Festival. If the director is unable to attend the Festival, he can (in agreement with the organizing committee of the festival) transfer his invitation to another member of the film crew. The festival provides representatives of competitive films with an invitation to obtain a free visa to the Russian Federation.

Questions about the conditions of inviting participants and guests, the terms and conditions of their stay and accreditation at the festival for each contestant are personally decided by the Organizing Committee of the Antares Film Festival in personal invitations.

By tradition, the festival reserves the right to invite honored guests, participants of out-of-competition screenings, theater and other programs, leading master classes, heroes of paintings presented at the festival, representatives of the media and various cultural organizations. Payment for accommodation and travel is negotiated and considered individually in each case.

SCREENINGS WITHIN THE FRAMEWORK OF THE FESTIVAL, ON TELEVISION AND ON THE INTERNET

The Festival can use excerpts from competitive films (up to 10% of the film's length, but no more than 3 minutes) to promote the Festival on television and the Internet.

The festival has the right to show the film selected in the competitive program no more than three times during the festival. The Festival has the right to additionally show films of the competitive program in the amount of no more than 2 (two) screenings within 6 (six) months from the date of the Festival in Sochi. These additional screenings can only be carried out within the framework of cultural events related to the presentation of the Antares Film Festival.

CONFIRMATION OF AGREEMENT WITH THE TERMS

By submitting an electronic application for participation in the Antares Festival (on the Festhome / FilmFreeway platforms, or other authorized resource), or by signing a paper copy of the application, you confirm that you are an authorized representative of the copyright holder of the film and agree to all the above points of these Regulations in full.

SPECIAL PROGRAMS AND SPECIAL SCREENINGS

Special Programs are formed and compiled by the Organizing Committee of the Festival. The number of special programs in each year is determined by the Organizing Committee based on the current needs and capabilities of the Festival.

Films selected for special programs and special screenings of the Festival are requested by the curator of each special program from the copyright holder. Payment for the rental of the film for screening (payment of the license) is carried out by the Festival on the basis of an invoice issued by the copyright holder. The cost of each individual film is not fixed and may be different in each individual case.

INVITING SPECIAL GUESTS TO THE FESTIVAL

The authors of films of special programs and special screenings are invited to the festival to present films. If possible, the festival provides representatives of films of special programs and screenings with a visa, air or railway tickets, as well as hotel accommodation for the duration of a special program or a special screening within the framework of the film festival.

BUSINESS PROGRAM

The business program of the Festival consists of exhibitions, creative meetings, round tables and master classes with the possibility of non-competition screening of full-length feature films, as well as other cultural events that are an integral part of the festival program.

All guests of the business program are invited by the Festival.
