From September 12 to 25, Moscow will host the III International Film Festival “Antares”. This year, its programme extends far beyond cinema halls: participants, jury members, and honorary guests — filmmakers from Belarus, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, China, Brazil, Iran, Cuba, India, and Spain — will visit the legendary Moskino Film Park, the largest open‑air filming location in Europe.
This is a unique film city where real sets coexist with leisure areas. In just one day, you can take a real journey through time: find yourself in 1940s Moscow, stroll along the streets of a cowboy town with a saloon and a sheriff's office, see the Vitebsky railway station of St. Petersburg, or travel back to Ancient Rus' in the times of Princess Olga. You can also visit Cathedral Square with its recreated Assumption, Archangel, and Annunciation cathedrals and the Ivan the Great Bell Tower.
And that's only a small part! The Film Park has recreated more than 30 locations — from 19th‑century Vladivostok to the streets of Berlin with the legendary Checkpoint Charlie and the Reichstag. There is even a real Tu‑154 aircraft, whose cabin is used for shooting dramas and action films, as well as a vast collection of vintage cars and a technical museum that can satisfy the taste of any collector.
This is the place where filming is constantly underway: over the past two years, more than 200 projects have been shot at the Moskino locations! Among the recent big premieres are Igor Voloshin's fairy tale “Buratino”, which grossed over two billion rubles at the box office, Sarik Andreasyan's family film “Prostokvashino”, the war drama “Not Listed” with its recreated Brest Fortress, as well as the series “Border of Worlds”, “Ostap”, and “The Incredible Adventures of Shurik”. Right now, more than 20 new projects are being filmed in the park — and festival guests will see their birth with their own eyes!
A special excursion “Secrets of Big Cinema” has been prepared for the participants of “Antares” — a chance to learn how to age roof tiles, set sets on fire, shoot scenes in real airports, and work with extras. After such an immersion, even adults will start looking at cinema with completely different eyes.
But that's not all! The organisers have prepared a rich business programme: meetings, masterclasses, and creative sessions with world experts. The central event will be the “Cinema Dialogue” platform, which will bring together leading industry professionals to discuss trends, technologies, and the future of cinema.
The festival, fully dedicated to the working person and the diversity of professions, will present more than 200 films in the categories of fiction, documentary, and animated cinema, as well as a screenplay competition. “Antares” once again proves: great cinema is born not only on screen but also behind the scenes. And the Moskino Film Park is the best place to see this for yourself.
Come and see for yourself: every detail comes to life here, and behind every frame lies a whole universe.
