On September 12, the grand opening ceremony of the III International Film Festival “Antares” took place at the Palace on the Yauza. The main theme of the festival is the working person and the diversity of professions. The festival will last two weeks and will end on September 25, 2026.
Before the official part, guests could stroll through the floors of the Palace: on the first floor there were a red carpet and a photo zone, on the second — a buffet hall surrounded by portraits of filmmakers painted by Nikas Safronov, on the third — an exhibition by contemporary artist Lyubov Pototskaya.
In the large concert hall, host Alexey Mak introduced the honored guests. Festival President Alexander Khalimovsky spoke about the idea of the project: “Our country has ten thousand professions, and young people, including the older generation, must decide on this profession… Our festival is about us, about ordinary people who want to make the life of our country better!” Welcoming remarks were made by representative of the Government Commission of the Russian Federation Lyudmila Gontar, Senator of the Russian Federation Yulia Lazutkina, Chairman of the Federation of Independent Trade Unions of Russia Sergey Chernogaev, and other political figures.
Festival Director Andrey Afrin announced that this year more than 3,700 films from 79 countries were submitted to the competition, and about 170 films from 44 countries made it into the final program. The heroes of the competition films were representatives of 133 professions — from the most common to rare and unusual. Among the genres are comedies, dramas, detective stories, and even horror. The jury includes leading figures of the film industry, chaired by production designer and animator Anna Karpova. The book partner of the festival was the publishing house “Bombora,” which will give participants and laureates 100 copies of the book “How to Make Your First Film.”
Screenings will take place at the Moscow Festival Center at the address: Okruzhny Proyezd, 18a. You can view the full schedule of the competition program and register for screenings on the official festival website.
